What do the blueprints offer?

They provide a practical and dependable foundation that is already tested and ready to build from. Each blueprint is informed by years of professional architectural practice and direct self build experience. The value lies in reducing risk, bringing clarity to early decisions and replacing uncertainty with a more structured path, so projects can move forward more smoothly and with greater momentum.

How long does it take to build?

The time required will depend on the size and complexity of the project. Some builds may be completed in around 6 months, while others will take longer depending on level of finish.

Do I need permits or approvals?

This depends on your location and local regulations. Our blueprints can be used to support review by local authorities and consultants, and may form part of the approval process.

Have the blueprints been built?

Yes. The designs in the Chambers Foundation library are based on real building experience and developed for tropical conditions. They have already been built in Asia, including Malaysia and Indonesia, through collaboration with local builders, regional materials and local regulatory frameworks.

How much does it cost?

Build costs can start from around 20,000 USD for a simple, livable tropical shelter. This would typically include the structural timber frame, roof, mosquito mesh openings and durable basic finishes, with scope to expand over time. Costs will then vary according to project size, level of finish, kitchen and bathroom complexity, local timber prices and whether the build is self managed or labour is hired.
