Unwind and immerse yourself in our Bidayuh culinary rainforest experience. From the moment you leave town, everything is taken care of, including transport from your location in Kuching town or the airport, guiding, meals and activities. All you need to do is arrive, slow down and let the rainforest unfold around you.
Immerse yourself in the quiet beauty of the rainforest through food, farming and traditional Bidayuh hospitality. Choose between a 2 day 1 night (2D1N) stay or a slower and more immersive 3 day 2 nights (3D2N) experience.
Your journey begins from your accommodation in Kuching or the airport, where you will be collected and transported toward the foothills of the Bengoh Dam region. As you move deeper into the landscape, the city fades and the jungle begins to open around you.
Along the way, you will follow a forest trail to Curtain and Susung Waterfall before sharing a traditional Bidayuh meal prepared in freshly cut bamboo over open fire using local ingredients and native cooking methods.
From there, the boat carries you deeper into the mountain range toward the Bidayuh village, where life moves communally around traditional farming, forest knowledge and wooden village homes. You will walk through regenerative hill farms growing rice, tropical fruits, herbs, vegetables and native ingredients that shape the local cuisine and way of life.
As the afternoon softens, your guide leads you along farmland and forest paths, crossing a suspended bridge to reach the homestead, a secluded rainforest retreat beside the river. Here, your room offers comfort, calm and protection from insects, allowing you to rest within the surrounding forest.
As evening approaches, ingredients gathered from local markets, farms and the surrounding landscape are prepared. Fish may be smoked over the flames while aromatic herbs, bamboo cooking and traditional techniques shape the evening meal. Dining is part of the rainforest itself, shared beside the river as the sun disappears into the jungle canopy.
Later, we gather around the fire to share stories before stepping into the forest on a guided night walk beneath the stars. After dark, the rainforest reveals another side of itself, alive with the movement and sound of insects, frogs and reptiles along the path.
During your stay, you may also follow the red river on a gentle guided walk, passing traditional hunting and foraging shelters before arriving at the red lagoon. Back at the homestead, the river invites you to swim, or you may choose from activities including kayaking, bamboo rafting and river fishing. Guests are also invited to plant a young tree sapling to help restore and protect the riverbanks for future generations.

If you’re looking to slow down, eat well and experience the rainforest through food, farming and fire cooking, the 2D1N inclusive Bidayuh culinary experience
homestead stay offers an intimate introduction to traditional Bidayuh culinary life in the jungle.
Guests often describe the experience as “food for the soul” not only because of the landscape, but because of the way meals are shared here. Ingredients come from surrounding farms, forest gardens and nearby rivers, prepared slowly using bamboo, fire and traditional cooking methods passed through generations.
The journey itself becomes part of the experience. You’ll travel deep into the rainforest by boat, cross suspension bridges and arrive at an off grid homestead built together with the local Bidayuh community. Hidden beside the river beneath the forest canopy, the homestead feels remote and deeply peaceful while still offering comfort, WiFi and ensuite bathrooms.
In just one night, you’ll experience a rich taste of rainforest life through food and community. Hike to waterfalls, swim in jungle rivers, learn traditional bamboo cooking techniques and discover how native ingredients, regenerative farming and forest knowledge continue to shape daily life in the Bidayuh highlands.
Your stay is guided by the local Bidayuh community and hosted by a British and Bidayuh couple who built the homestead together within the rainforest. You’ll walk ancestral land, share meals connected to the surrounding landscape and directly support local families, traditional farming and regenerative conservation efforts.
If you have more time, you may also enjoy the slower and more immersive 3D2N culinary experience.
